Beneteau 321 water leak

I have a ‘98 Beneteau 321 which I winterized in Novemeber. I checked it today and noticed a small amount of water in the engine comparment near the shaft seal. The clamps were tight and the seal dry so i traced back and noticed water accumulated just behind it at what looks to have been a seal circular area. I vacuumed it up and looking for additional accumulation. After 2 hours, none. What could have been the cause, how serious is this, how can i repairthe issue? Thanks for any advice.

Winterized in the water or out?

Condensation on the hull collecting in a low spot?

Possible. It was winterized in the water.

Depending on what the weather has been lately, cold water and warm air can actually accumulate quite a lot of water.

Sweet or salt water?

If salt, maybe leaking waterpump and now dry, ... .
Sweet, maybe condensation or a leak in your watersystem.

Toilet paper is a good tool to find the direction from a leak.

Re: Beneteau 321 water leak

My B321 leaks tons of water at the shaft seal whenever the shaft is turning - it's a volvo lip type seal (or should I say un-seal) so I was astonished to hear you say "...a small amount of water.."

However, the place you show in the pic is well aft of the shaft seal and mine too had a very slow seeping leak in that low place when I first bought it in 2005. At a boat yard, they put a strap around the stern and lifted it up to relieve the pressure so they could patch the glass on the inside. Hasn't leaked since - in THAT spot.

Just spent a thousand (BOAT: Break Out Another Thousand) trying to stop leaks in the dead lights and hatches. Be thankful for " a small amount of water.."!

Re: Beneteau 321 water leak

Thanks for the insight everyone. I waited 24 hours and it’s bone dry, so I’m hoping it was condensation. I’ll put it on the hard in the next month for
a bottom job, so will check again then.
