Catalina 25 - what's this thing on the deck?

I was looking at a Catalina 25 yesterday, (I'm shopping for my first keel boat) and I saw a thing on the deck. It's broken, but I don't know what it is. It looks like a cover for something that has been removed.



Sorry about the picture, it had gotten dark by the time I noticed it. We are looking at the area between the forward hatch and the anchor locker at the bow.

Anybody know what it is, or was?

If it is round, it might be a solar powered vent?

Can't see your photo. Depending on the model year there's a rectangular deadlight in that space.

Deadlight is right. I had a 1981 for 13 years, great boat, fin keel, traditional layout.
