I'm sure the dog was sad, but I'm not going to pay Jeff Bezos a Dollar to read about it.

It didn't cost me anything to open the article.

But there are other sources.

My first thought was the dog was going to become lunch. But from the article it sounds like the crew on the rig are treating him pretty well.

I read (not in a Jeff Bezos-owned publication ) that the dog was treated well onboard the rig, and then sent to a vet facility on land where he was recovering. I suspect with all the publicity he'll be adopted.

Poor little guy. I've heard so many accounts of animals lost at sea heading to passing vessels in a desperate attempt to get onto land. Sometimes they are so desperate that their survival instinct leads them to completely disregard the passengers and crew often leading to some very interesting encounters. I remember seeing a video of an iguana lost at sea hauling itself onto a small fishing boat (much to the fascination of the crew).

The dog was probably destined to become lunch on a fishing boat before he went overboard. Or possibly the fishing boat sank.
