Hi, I have a Airmar CS4500 optical speed
sensor feeding my
Raymarine TackTick system. It's stopped working recently and the Owners Guide has some rather ambiguous
advice about maintaining it. It states that the active face is fragile so avoid anything which might scratch or gouge the surface, but also says that the face may become affected by aquatic growth in less than six weeks, in which case it may be lightly sanded with fine wet/dry. Before my enthusiasm costs me hundreds of dollars, how does anyone else keep their speed
sensor operating ? When I worked for a
sailing school, we used to remove the old-style log impellers at the end of each day. As my
boat is currently only used 2 days a week, should I adopt this practice ? Thanks in advance for any
advice.
