How to purchase Chile Atlas

Hey everyone
Im trying to purchase the Chilean Atlas Hidrografic from here:
Atlas Hidrografic from SHOA
I suck at spanish but I've figured out everything needed to order except when I go to check out it needs a RUT number for foreigners which has me stumped.
Im trying to get it shipped to Canada.
Has anyone ordered off this site and had it shipped internationally?
Any help on the process would be appreciated
Thanks
Gary

Re: How to purchase Chile Atlas

The need to have a RUT ( ID card number ) seems to be a requirement for any and all online transactions in Chile, from bus tickets onwards.

Can't help with international shipping but I think the postage would be horrific. ( Domestic postage 3 years ago was Ch$15,000)

Simplest option I can suggest is just waiting until you arrive in Chile and then getting a local friend to order it for you.

I bought mine over the counter from the chart agents in Montt and you could get them in the Post Office in Pto Williams but that was quite a few years ago.

Sorry I can't be of further assistance.

Thanks Pinguino
We'll be pulling into either Valdivia or Puerto Montt on first arrival next year so I guess unless something's changed we'll just wait until then.

Re: How to purchase Chile Atlas

Hey Gary, we've just got ours on the mail. We live in San Antonio, central Chile, and have a PO BOX (Casilla 31 San Antonio). We could either send you this and order another, or receive yours and send it to you. You could also try using my info but ship it strait to Canada (Marcia Souza RUT:14.671.165).
It's heavy and big though (weighs 12 lbs, 18.5"X12"X2"). Let me know if we can help.

Marcia. Thank you sooo much for your offer to help! Somehow I missed your post or we would have jumped on it. We are now in the Galapagos so we'll grab the package when we get there in a few months. Hopefully we'll run into you in the channels.
Thanks again
Gary

Re: How to purchase Chile Atlas

Hey everyone, here is an update for those looking for the Chart atlas in Chile.
I got help from the local yachties here in Valdivia and can report the following.
A Passport number will work as a RUT number if you are shipping here in Chile. Please note that you only need to purchase the Atlas and not the update supplement as it ships fully updated from when you purchase it despite it listing its publication date as 2009. I received it in under 2 weeks from date of purchase.
Thanks
Gary

Re: How to purchase Chile Atlas

Hola Gary, good info.

I bought mine 'over the counter' but lack of a RUT has been an issue in the past when booking trying to book bus and plane tickets on line.

Speaking of which ... I flew JetSmart up from P Arenas to Montt earlier this year.... would choose them over LAN/Latam every time in future for domestic flights....
