USA West Coast Southbound Voyager seeking free over-winter anchoring?

Anyone know where I can safely anchor free through the coming winter going down the West USA Coast in S. Oregon or California?

With the covid19 situation and entry to Mexico not happening right now, and even S.Pacific Islands not allowing entry possibly in the spring, I’m stuck here on the USA NorthWest Coast (Puget Sound), and need to find a quiet, free place to anchor that will be warmer than up here by the border. I was on my way to a circumnavigation right before the shutdown stopped further progress across the Pacific.

I’d like to head down the Pacific USA (Oregon/California) to better survive the coming winter, and have been looking at the SF Bay Area (not sure where else to go). I can’t afford to get a slip in a marina.

I have a clean, good looking, 30' US flagged, 4.5' draft sailboat.

I recently read about the movement to try and get the long-term free-anchoring live-aboards out of the bay (?) and I don’t want to get mixed up in that or have misunderstandings. I've been trying to get a hold of the SF USCG (I figure they would know where best to not have to come out and give me grief, if anyone does) but no luck so far.

Anyone know of places I can anchor for the winter down the coast of California or up some inlet in the bay area (or even S. Oregon) until I can resume voyaging next spring, where I might be able to get to a grocery store every week or so? I am a quiet, self-contained, low-key middle-aged cruiser with a cat.

Thank you!

I'm long gone from the bay area, but I'd be looking for a spot in the Delta area. Should meet your requirements. One of our long term members, SailorChic34 IIRC, has done just what you describe in past years.

Likely someone with more recent info will chime in...

Thank you.
Now just have to figure out where the delta is... North East Bay?

A quick google might well serve to locate it for you, mate! But it is the large area formed by the conjunction of the Sacremento and San Joaquin rivers that flow into the SF Bay.

Some research on your part, perhaps via Latitude 38s pages will yield heaps of info.

If you were willing re-anchor every week or so, there would be an almost unlimited number of places to hang out. When you look at some sort of map, all this would be north and east of SF. A bike might help.
