Help move our Beneteau 47.7 first from Norfolk to FL in Nov

We are an almost retired couple making our first passage south. We r looking for a set of helping hands - preferably w a bit more experience than us to help move SV Unladen Swallow south. We plan to use most of the month to get there w a bunch of one day hops down the coast.

We have spent the last year in a refit and in sailing school and r ready to head for warmer waters. She is a true blue water boat who circumnavigated w her previous owner so no ICW legs.

We will be at the boat show in Annoppolis this weekend looking for crew.

We saw Unladen Swallow on AIS as we cruised the Bay recently. Love the boat name.

Re: Help move our Beneteau 47.7 first from Norfolk to FL in Nov

I am newly retired after a 30 yr career. I own a 2001 Catalina 36, and wanted to sail her to florida this year but could not get a crew...I would be very interested in doing this trip with you.
I have sailed for 38 yrs but never out of the chesapeake...just way to busy working and didn’t take much time off...missed about 10 days of work in 30 yrs.
I am looking for an adventure.

I am glad to hear that our sailing community is growing with my people as is being tired. I am planning to retired myself since on my sixties. I am now 59...already have a Beneteau 352, and I had being sailing for many years but only occasionally. I think I am ready for permanent sailing for a least a year o so. Good luck..! fair winds..!

Just one comment: To go trough the ICWW you vertical clearance cannot be more than 64 ft. Or else, you will have to go outside .

Lee & Brownie, we just sailed our 36-foot catamaran from the Chesapeake Bay to Saint Augustine in April, and stopped at Deltaville on the way. A delightful marina there and a cute little town. Anyway, how far south would you be going? We are a semi-retired couple living in Saint Augustine, Dan is fully retired and I have a real estate business, so can take a few months off. I understand not wanting to go down the ICW and with 4 people we can do 2-3 day offshore legs comfortably, but you may want to avoid cape fear in November. Private message me if you want to discuss further.

Having just moved a sistership, I am curious how the shower seats in the head are secured at sea. These seats are hinged at the wall, and come down like a guillotine when you put them up to try to use the head. I realized that the boat I delivered was a dock queen because there was no securing mechanism. Other than that it was a really nice boat if you can live with a 9 ft draft.

Chances are the draft of the vessel will also be an issue in the ICW
