Looking for a Buyers broker in San Diego

I'm hoping to buy my first cruising sailboat soon and am looking for a buyers broker who will assist me in locating the right boat for my needs and determining a reasonable price for the boat.

It would be best if the broker does is not employed by one of the large yacht dealers here in San Diego, since this could create a conflict of interest should they represent the seller of the boat I want to buy.

Any recommendations for brokers you've worked with are greatly appreciated!

i didnt have good luck with brokers when selling my ericson. i do, however, know the best surveyor on planet earth...that is kjels christian and associates.....

I saw Kjels mentioned in another thread as being honest and thorough. I definitely plan to use him to do the survey once I find a boat.

I see a lot of value in having an experience buyers broker:
- suggest brands and models of boats that meet my criteria.
- steer me away from boats that have deficiencies I may not be aware of.
- help negotiate a fair price with the seller

Since this is my first boat, there's a lot I don't know. Simple things like a good galley layout or the best type of anchor. A good broker should be able to identify potential issues in a boat before I make an offer and pay for a costly survey.

Best of all, the seller pays my brokers commission. So, I see no downside to having a broker assist me.
