Cartagena to Jamaica & Cuba

Hi all...am looking at a trip to visit southern Cuba via western Jamaica and then on to Isla Mujeres but departing from Cartagena, Colombia. Departure time of year is likely to be February to April. Vessel is a 45 foot monohull and crew doesn't generally enjoy "boisterous" conditions!
The pilot charts for this area and time of year are not too encouraging (read frequent "bositerous" conditions). However I'm wondering about the likelihood of useful calmer condition periods such that we could scoot up to Jamaica without getting too badly beat up.
Has had anyone had experience with this routing this time of year who could provide guidance please?

Re: Cartagena to Jamaica & Cuba

I have done the trip twice all the way to Isla Mujeres. On both occasions it was a lovely sail mostly off the wind...15 kts and 6-8 ft seas on the beam

Crossing the Caribbean at anytime of the year you can expect 15 knots and 6-8 ft seas. Worse in winter and better in spring and fall, summer has hurricanes. The conditions are very benign at the moment.

If your crew cannot handle 15 kts and 6ft seas on the beam they need to fly.
