Bought my first yacht / liveaboard

1970 34' Don Brooke yacht. Currently moored in Auckland harbor but will be getting her to a marina to do some DIY. Will post more pics as progress is made (and undoubtedly questions for help along the way).

So far tasks include: cleaning up the Lister Petter engine, redoing wood flooring, reupholstering, repainting, cleaning out mold, and minor cosmetic fixes.

If anyone has advice on fixing up a similar yacht I'd love to hear your experience/feedback!

The end goal is to make her sustainable/liveable/sailable around the bays of NZ over the summer. Click image for larger version

She's pretty, to boot.

Mold? Dry her out so it doesn't return. Reduce sources of water in the interior (yeah, you can't get rid of your breath, a big source), by running a small dehumidifier or an air conditioner while you are not on her. Then, bleach solutions kill everything.

There is no universally accepted answer to that question

Re: Bought my first yacht / liveaboard

In the USA the term yacht is associated with luxury and expense but that is still quite relative. So I generally say a yacht is any boat more than 5 feet longer than the boat you own.
