Hi All,
I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
I have a fairly new 450S and have had trouble with the roller spooling drum on the
jib as the
furling line is rolling onto the lower part of the drum, then over filling it, slipping off the bottom and tangling into the drum’s pivot point.
The issue seems to be that the angle of the line from the spool to the first pulley on the starboard side is angled down so when the line spools on the
furler its all rolling into the bottom of the spool, slipping off the bottom, and catching/jamming into the lower mechanism.
I’ve tried the following:
1. Keeping tension applied like the manual says.
2. I’ve pulled it manually at the same angle from sitting on the trampoline… and it still happens.
3. I’ve pulled it in manually from a standing position while standing forward on the trampoline and it works fine. Thus, my assumption is the angle down is what’s causing the problem.
Has anyone had this problem, have you
solved it?
First time ever on a
boat where the drum is allowing a line to slip into the lower mechanism…
Any
advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Vinny
