Check The Boat Works up the Coomera river. Great yard, go services plus easy onboard living. You need reservations for long term storage.

Re: Need boatyard in Southern Queensland
Paul L beat me!
Boat Works are, imo, very user friendly, and do have hardstand space, but you will want to negotiate personally with them.
Last year, we hired people to do the majority of work on our boat, and the ancillary facilities for people who live aboard and work on their own boat are quite pleasant. They work hard at making your experience there a pleasant one.

- from google maps, I noticed space is limited(hence I understand need for reservation) - I'm hoping for a May to November slot --- this may have to change

**BTW I'll be undertaking a significant project (but something I've done before) while on the hard, not just storing her

I had my boat there for a few weeks after I bought it and lived on board for a couple of weeks. No problem with living aboard. They have good washroom and laundry facilities for live-aboards.
The only potential problem getting there with a big cat is the 20.3m overhead cable at south Russell Island.

Re: Need boatyard in Southern Queensland
There is a slipway in Maryborough which hauls out big cats using a large trailer under the bridge deck and hard stands them. Scruffy place but probably fairly low cost and about 1k from the city centre.

Re: Need boatyard in Southern Queensland
I have just come off the slip at Redland City Marina. Rates are good and staff friendly and helpful. Access is high tide only but I have seen some big boats in there. I have been using Kym Grosse (shipwright) who has worked with me and helped a lot with advice. Close to Brisbane (Victoria point).

If these guys can do it I'm sure you'll be fine
Other choice is The Yard at the mouth of the Brisbane river

If the power line is an.issue, can't they just go outside and back in via the Southport entrance?
The Boat Works has multiple free loaner cars that makes staying onboard a nicer.

Re: Need boatyard in Southern Queensland
Gold Coast city marina are very good they can lift up anything I stayed on board for four nights while my work was being done. They did say they don’t cater for little boards but I never mentioned it no one said anything. They have courtesy cars as well as almost all trades available for work. Great service not as crowded as Boatworks and they seem very keen for work to be done, really recommend Riverside Marine services excellent job and price was good

Re: Need boatyard in Southern Queensland
I like Boatworks Coomera but it's definitely at the 5-star end of the scale.
Bundaberg Slipways is at the 2-star end but is a great spot to winter over, always nice and warm and low humidity in winter and within walking distance of the centre of town. They have good trailers for moving large cats around.
Bundaberg Port Hardstand and Bundaberg Sailing Club are also options but I don't know if they can handle your beam.
Bundaberg is a port of entry if you're coming in from overseas so it can save you some time and hassle.

Re: Need boatyard in Southern Queensland
Hi,
You might try the Tin Can Bay Slipway. Bottom of Fraser Island and not too far from Gladstone. A sleepy village with civilisation not too far away if you need parts, paint n stuff.
Cheers

Great suggestion.
Added bonus here is Ken Drummond who runs the place used to be Geoff Cruzes right hand for many many years so knows a bit about cats.
Cruzie is a bit of a local legend responsible for most of the big foam/kevlar/carbon epoxy Crowther cats on the east coast.
