Advice on boat purchase with hull work evident above the waterline

My husband and I are getting a survey on a catamaran in a few days. The cat has what looks to be multiple area where work was done on the hull above the waterline. Wanted to get some advice on things to ask the surveyor and potential issues from the work. I've attached a photo of the area...might be hard to see it however. The area looks dull compared to the rest of the hull.

Hard to assess from the image, but could just be minor rub marks on the smooth shiny production gel coat. Blemishes in appearance not function.

Perhaps where the fender laid against the side.

Not seeing much evidence of unevenous that would reflect rework of a puncture or impact cracking.

May be a cosmetic Wax On, Wax Off project.

Note it to the surveyor, they may be able to discern from the inside.

To me it looks like the part of the hull where the fenders rub

If it is more than a blemish / fenders rubbing, make sure the surveyor inspects the inside of the hull, even if you have to remove cabinetry. I had a yacht surveyed which turned out it had fallen over on the hard and the strut had poked a hole through the hull. The repairs were done by an amatuer and created a weak point in the hull. Worse case this could be a repaired collision. Any decent surveyor would be able to work out if it is an issue.

Re: Advice on boat purchase with hull work evident above the waterline

Boats often get scratched up when docking, especially when they are piloted by newbies -which catamarans often are these days as they seem to be the "starter boat" of choice today for those with fat enough checkbooks.

Naturally one would inspect the inside of the hull for any sign of more extensive damage. But an expensive late-model pre-owned boat is not like a certified used automobile where any sign of cosmetic repairs or repainting on the finish is a huge red flag.

Many newbies don't get far with their brand new to them monster cats before getting into a boo-boo. Hopefully it is just a single-boat incident against a piling or dock and didnt involve someone else's boat innocently tied up nearby.

Just looks like rub Mark's or they have cleaned the hull of Mark's. A repair done that good would blend in . This is not a repair just the wax and top coat being rubbed. Get some polish and re wax it,

Thank you very much! Surveyor didn't find any issues and only one spike on the moisture reader which coincided with area over the bulkhead.
