1982 Pearson 35 Gear Lever

Would appreciate advice for 1982 Pearson 35 Gear Lever Position. Does lever forward = boat goes forward or reverse?

Hi Julie and welcome to the forum.

Not just your Pearson but standard for all boats is lever forward means boat goes forward.

If yours works the other way then I would suspect the PO did something wrong it the course of a repair.

Agree, but a friend had a Pearson Triton with an Atomic 4 many years ago. You pulled back on the shift lever to go forward.

Was that original from the factory or the result of a later modification or repair?

That was a factory installation. This was a direct drive A4. You took an access plate off in the floor of the cockpit and put a long metal lever into a fitting. No cables!
