Onwa K-Chart vs Navionics vs C-Map vs CM93
I have been thinking about a cheap new plotter- Onwa model 1299.
Any opinions on the K-Charts that Onwa gives out? They are free, but only work on their plotters.
I still plan to keep Navionics on my iPad, and CM93 on my PC, but a dedicated plotter would be nice at times.

The KP1299 with built in fish finder is great value for money; I have been using one for two years linked to their AIS KS200A transponder and my simrad auto pilot. Works well C-Map MAX and K-Chart AND Navionics charts are available

CM93 is great as backup, but don't use it as principale, because it has not been updated for many years!

Re: Onwa K-Chart vs Navionics vs C-Map vs CM93
I´m using the Onwa KP-39-A with Kchart3. These Kchart3 are available since a few month. KP39a can use NAVIONICS+ and C-Map.
I´m happy with the performance of the KP-39A.
The AIS has both modes of operation SOTDMA and CSTDMA, they are selectable in the menu.

Got the Adress from Aliba. The seller was Szen Chang Hyang
Dont know if name is spelled correctly....just look in Aliba for AIS KP-39A.
With shipping import Duty it came to 400 Euro.

Re: Onwa K-Chart vs Navionics vs C-Map vs CM93

Well, there are many places where CM93 2012 is totally inadequate. For example, the west Coast of Mexico (Mexico' SEMAR has produced many new detailed charts esp since 2012). Even here in British Columbia, there are many places where CM93 2012 charts are either blank or missing significant updates.

Re: Onwa K-Chart vs Navionics vs C-Map vs CM93
I bought an ONWA 8 inch GPS with remote Antenna,
Its exactly the same maps as my Garmin 5 inch GPS,
This is the Built in Maps on the ONWA,
I had them running together as I didnt know what the ONWA was like or how good it was,
I bought mine off Ebay.com from Hong Kong, Its their main office,
But the companys Plant is in China,

Hi, this sounds like an interesting piece of equipment.
Is it suitable for cockpit mounting? Waterproof? Daylight display ?
