Re: Search for Ferro Cement yacht

My father had a 33' Hartley Queenslander. Ferro. Lived aboard for many years.
As an aside, Alan Lucas cruised with his family in a large ferro yacht for many years.
Dad was on his mooring when he was hit by an out of control trimaran travelling at a "serious speed".
It made a significant hole in the hull above waterline.
The repair was very straightforward; remove loose concrete, bend the wire/reo back in to place, trowel in concrete/a filler, job done.
Think of the extent of the damage in a timber or grp boat, and the extent/nature of the repair.
Also, no leaks at the hull/deck joint or deck cabin joint.
Each material has its advantages and problems.

Re: Search for Ferro Cement yacht

Just a couple of observations on Ferro cement boats.
All the pages on the
https://www.ferroboats.com/ are a treasure trove of information and fact.
On here you will also find the Hartley & Samson boats.
And lots of history, facts and advice.
Makes total sense to me....

Further to this, is this Youtube site; "Floating concrete blocks"
The evidence is at 0:45 seconds.

Interesting stuff....
