Seawind 1000, bluewater, NZ to Fiji etc?
I like that seawind focuses on performance cats as well as comfort.
I cant afford a lot right now, but I really like the look of 2009 Seawind 1000 that was in survey, I assume for chartering.
Are they capable of bluewater crossings from NZ to the Pacific islands?
Its been well looked after in the charter fleet with a refurb in 2018 including new chart plotters. updated bed upholstery, new awnings, full outboard reconditioning, and a new anchor winch.
Its $210k NZ$.

Katie Kat is 1000. 1000s were built till 2006, then to about 2012 they were XLs then the last couple of years they were XL2s. An XL is a little longer, basically a transom extension with better steps and easier dinghy access etc, about 850 mm longer. XL is same boat from the aft beam forward. So an XL will be a little faster than the 1000 a little more carrying ability etc. I owned a 2009 XL for many years.
The charter fleet issue shouldn't be a problem, but get her surveyed.

Also a heap of 1000s and XLs have circumnavigated Australia, including southern ocean trip, so pretty good test.

That sounds awesome. Seawinds are pretty fast for a Cat arent they?
I got rid of my 42ftr which was really just a floating apartment.
How fast would a 1000xl go in a 20 knot wind?

They are a pretty smallish boat so the bridgedeck clearance not massive and if it has outboards they hang low enough to get some waves. The beds are really small though; not really a decent double birth there which is a shame. The early ones will dig their transoms in but the XL is good. The best thing is the bridgedeck cabin with panoramic views even when seated. The best place to stand a watch from on a fresh night. You can see out the windows in the galley and pass stuff straight up which is great when it is rough if you have to be on food prep.
They are fast enough. I have only been lucky enough to spend a week or so on an XL just cruising in Bass Strait and in in 15-20kn quartering and beam sea conditions that would have been terrible on most monos we were comfortable and happy doing over 10kn under autopilot and up to 15kn surfing when I got bored and tried hand steering. Yes there was some slapping underneath as the waves came thru under the windward hull and hit the leeward outboard pod but safe, and fun.

An 1160 is double the overall size of a 1000. A friend had one, it was tiny compared to our 11.3 metre cat.

I asked that before to a owner of a 1000, he showed me trip log their avg moving speed was 5.9knots for about 7000 miles. The boat was in full cruising trim..
It did hit a 18knot surf once,,,
