Catalac 12M Stern step remodel

Hi all,

I have just bought a catalac 12m sailboat. It has a square stern with a stainless steel ladder on the starboard side.
I am thinking about adding an extension of stern steps to a swim platform similar to the Leopard 40 or seawind 1600 sterns.
This would make getting in and out of the dingy so much easier and help bring these old girls into the 21st century.
Has anyone done something similar to other catalac's?
What effect would this have on the yachts performance? Rudder etc.
