Willard Eight Ton 30' ???

Does anyone have any experience or opinion on the Willard Eight Ton 30' Cutter?

I have seen a couple of them popping up for sale lately. I have done some research online and can have only found one person who used to own one years ago.

Any input would be helpful.

Thanks

If anyone knows someone who knows someone who has a friend who's uncle's buddy knows a guy who used to own one, feel free to chime in!

William Crealock...

If my search details are correct William Crealock designed many boats arround 30'.

While you might not get any history for the Willard you should be able to get a good feel for Crealock designs.

If the condition is of concern that is best addressed by a careful personal appraisal followed by a survey by a competant surveyor if purchase is being considered.

There seem to be a few on the market so talking to a broker in the first instance may be indicated.

There used to be a saying that "No news is good news." but I am not sure it applies in these days of spin.

Just my uneducated opinion. Unless I was a very independent, "do it all myself" guy I personally would pass on this boat.

One of the "new" criteria on my list is that the boat I buy, especially an older boat, have an active owners group.

My boat has an active owners group but the entire forum happens in Swedish so it kind of excludes me - LOL. A mistake I won't repeat.

Point being when something breaks or happens it's nice to have a group to bounce ideas off.

OTOH - Sometimes great boats are sold cheap because they are unknown and unsupported so they might be a great deal.
