Coastal Sailing wet weather gear

Hi

I am looking for Coastal wet weather gear (suitable for Australian and Pacific waters), I came across MainDeck (vastly sold in UK) on various UK marine ecommerce sites, however I can not find any information on the Vendor (MainDeck) itself or their DC2 (trademark) fabric technology. I wonder if anyone in the forum please shed some light and reviews of their Jacket and trousers for comfort (wearing long hours watch), breathability, zip quality etc. Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Harry

Welcome aboard Harry! Sorry I don't know those brands, I have old Henri Lloyds that have a liner and they work fine. Usually I am in the bib overalls till the time for getting splashed is in the offing. I'm sure someone here will know though!

Thanks Don. There is a large variety out there with huge price tags, I am trying to find a good balance between price and quality.

Re: Coastal Sailing wet weather gear

I got the navis branded coastal gear. It held up for 4-7 hours accetably, water seeping through at a very slow but noticeable rate. I'm going to try to spray it with DWR spray and see if it gets better - I have a friend who uses super-old beat up foulies that were given to him - he did the spray on treatment and he liked the way they worked.

They were 250 bucks. Check amazon.

I could not find any details on Maindeck gear (I still wonder who is the manufacturer?), finally I got Helly Hansen Aegir gear. Hope it will be as good as their marketing and endorsements by the professional sailors.

Harry, Yank here. Do you have any shops near you that sell used gear? In San Fran. we have shops where yachties sell their gear because of upgrading or getting out of the biz. Can pick gear up that is dirt cheap. I just paid 30 dollars for a pair of 300 dollar Musto bibs.

Well done (lucky you) AllanSmith, here in Sydney I could not find any. Does this place (where you bought) has any online presence? The retailer are greedy are greedy and to discourage the online purchase Govt has imposed 10% GSales tax on import value more than $900 AUD.

Even with these GST ,Import duty and 50 GBPound for delivery my Helly Hansen jacket and bib cost atleast $800 less than these local retailers are charging us here.
