Build OpenCPN for Debian

Dear Forum, since I am using Debian (9) the provided PPA for Ubuntu did not worked for me. So I decided to build OpenCPN by my own . . .using a provided manual on the OpenCPN Developer Wiki. Now, these days the Wiki is a blank page: https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...ompiling_linux
Does anybody here have the old manual availble or is there any hint where the manual went?
Many thanks Raz

Raz,
Are you using a RPi? If so, learn from our experience, its much easier to just go thru OpenPlotter. then come back and update OCPN. Originally we did the build ourselves. While it eventually worked, it was more of a pain than what it was worth. Here's a link to what we did.

Hey Bill,
thanks a lot for your link and the infos, but no, I am not using RPi, I use a normal desktop environment, now with Debian 10.2 'Buster' . . . the old manual worked fine for me, building anything and running fine for years including updates. . . now on setting up a new desktop system based on an "i3" processor . . . just looking for the manual

I just went to the link you set for the manual and all the information is still there? Maybe it was down when you tried? Or maybe a problem with the browser on your side? Anyway, here is a PDF of the current manual:

You can use the Ubuntu PPA for Debian:
for Debian 9 use Ubuntu xenial, for Debian 10 use Ubuntu bionic.

After adding the PPA to your apt sources you need to import the PPA's signing key from the ubuntu keyserver with:

# apt-key adv --keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/opencpn_ubuntu_opencpn.gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 116A13C5EDCEAB50DB00229867E4A52AC865EB40
