What are the best websites and/or YouTube videos or other source to learn how to sail?

Best source? Get on a boat and sail. Even better, get a cruising level boat and go cruise for a month or so. You’ll learn way more than watching vlogs.

Get a book and learn the very basics, and then see if you have a yacht club that does races. If there is, phone them up and see if any boats are looking for crew. A lot of them have areas where you can wait on race night, and people looking for crew will pick you up

I'm improving my coastal cruising knowledge by taking on-line courses at NauticEd. The classes are quite good and reasonably priced. There are two free courses... Sail Trim and Navigation Rules, so you can try before you buy.

None ..go take an asap course .. did you learn to drive by watching a video and then go jump in a car and head to the freeway?

I dunno, Chuck. I'm on the fence about lessons.

My sister and I learned to sail one summer when our crazy aunt bought a laser, read a sailing book the night before and the next day we went out in our lifejackets to Great Pond. In the first hour, we capsized the boat 14 times - until we figured out we needed to uncleat the mainsheet when we righted the boat.

But then - I was 11, my sister was 10.

Nowadays, it seems to be adults in large keelboats. They want to jump directly into keelboats and skip (or discount) the step of learning sailing principles by dinghy-sailing. What I'm seeing is that then they tend to struggle awhile with simple things like where the wind is coming from...

I don't know what the answer is, it's just something I'm seeing lately.
