Laminate Sail Cleaning

My main sail is a Vectran laminated sail and has a fair amount of mildew on the edges of the sail.
I want to clean it at home because every time I send it to a loft for cleaning it comes back just as dirty. Has anyone had success doing this and what type of cleaning solution worked?

Re: Laminate Sail Cleaning

My 130 genoa is laminated and the company I use has a vac-wash system that first removes all the air and then injects the cleaner (you cannot use bleach on laminate sails). This removes any embedded mildew, not just surface stains.

Re: Laminate Sail Cleaning

Anything new on this issue? My Z sails are starting to have a mildew issue and would like any solid recommendations on how to improve the look of them. Any cleaning lofts or processes?

Ben at Vacuwash in Portsmouth NH can sort you out. Ship your sail to him and you will be impressed with the results
