Cleaning Air Filters

Has anyone ever tried cleaning the disposable air filters. I have a Cruisers 455 and because they are so expensive and really not very dirty, I wanted to see if there was anyway to clean them and if so, how to do it.

Re: Cleaning Air Filters

Paper filters can be blown out using compressed air from the inside; foam filters can be cleaned with soap and water and dried before reinstallation.

Re: Cleaning Air Filters

If they are not dirty they don’t need cleaning.
Paper filters can be damaged when cleaned and will let dirt though, even though they look OK.
In fact any filter becomes a better filter when it’s dirty, just at some point it has too much restriction.

I don’t have a clue what kind of filter you have, but you may consider replacing them with K&N, if properly done, they can be cleaned many times, but read the instructions because the first time you hit one with compressed air, they are junk.

Take it from a retired maintenance pro, technique is everything.

If you have diesels and you're talking about Air-Seps... Walker Engineering sells a re-oiling kit, with instructions.
