Queensland / Brisbane
Hi everyone,
It’s time for me to move back to Aus but having done all my sailing up the other end of the world, I’ve no knowledge of what’s available for an (unofficial) liveaboard cat in and around the Brisbane area.
Anyone based down that way who could offer a bit of info?
Nathan

Re: Queensland / Brisbane
Are you looking for a marina berth or what?
Living aboard is fine in Qld. Several marinas around Brisbane and the Gold coast allow it, some charge a bit extra.
Probably the best value is the pile berths in the middle of Brisbane. Amazingly cheap, given the location. You can't book them in advance though, it's pretty much a case of taking your chances on any being available. There's also a limit on how long you can stay, I think. Otherwise none would ever be available.

Re: Queensland / Brisbane
Ta for the info.
Marina berth or long-term mooring would suit me fine - I’ll be working in Brisbane so as long as I can get there for work, I’m pretty easy on location.
You mentioned a few allow live aboards...do you have the names of them?

Re: Queensland / Brisbane
I don't know all of them, but Compass marina at Scarborough do, Newport marina, the QCYC marina at Shornecliffe, Hope Island marina, Coomera.....
There's bound to be more, we dont really go to marinas much. There's half a dozen marinas in Manly harbour, fair chance one or more allows liveaboards.

Re: Queensland / Brisbane
Appreciate the info guys. I’ll do a bit of googling and see what sort of prices they come back with.

Re: Queensland / Brisbane
ausnp84,
Commuting from Manly to downtown Brisbane is pretty user friendly, the train stops nearish to the marinas and so doe buses. Scarborough, Newport areas, really would be handy to have a car.
You might be able to rent a privately owned mooring in the Brisbane river, too. There are free shuttle ferries downtown.

Hey thanks Ann, that’s helpful. I’ve got family in Redcliffe as well so am going to pay them a visit and see what’s in and around the area.
It’s been 14 years since I last lived in Aus so will be good to get back down under!
