DIY Bottom Repair Near Puerto Rico

Greetings, first time poster here! Apologies if I am in the wrong place but this seemed logical.

I am looking to purchase a Leopard 44 cat that needs a little work near Puerto Rico and the gameplan is to do some hull repair in a yard somewhere while I live on the boat. Does anyone know of a place that will allow liveaboard DIY bottom repairs in their yard in or near Puerto Rico? I am hearing that the only marina in PR that has a travel lift wide enough is Puerto Del Rey but they do not allow DIY bottom work, you have to use one of their contractors.

Side question: is there a running list somewhere of all the marinas in the world that allow this kind of liveaboard DIY repair?

Anywho, thanks in advance for your help.

It may be possible for us to transport the boat to Florida so if anyone has a lead to a great diy yard there it would be awesome as well. Lots still up in the air and the covid 19 garbage is compounding the challenge.

You might check on Lauderdale Marine Center, up the New River in Fort Lauderdale. Most of their business is superyachts, where crew is expected to live and work on the boat in the yard. They do still manage to fit a few "little" boats like us in too. They deal with lots of cats, and won't even need the biggest lift they have to get you out of the water. Not bargain basement, but not really high end pricing either. They are fine with you living on the boat while you work.

For a price, they can even supply a cooling tower so you can run your AC, and a black water tank for your toilet waste so you can have all the comforts of home while on the hard

The nice thing about Fort Lauderdale is there a zillion marine service and supply places around.

Marinas.com. Cruising guide.com Active Captain.com. All of these websites have marina guide sections listing all facilities and usually list if do it yourself is permitted. The internet is your friend.

St Kitts, not sure what the covid restrictions are. They are a helpful and careful yard but you really are on your own DIY only for most everything. Buy all your supplies in St Maarten before you arrive.

FWIW they don't do a bad job if you are forced to stay during hurricane season. Hull pits and tie downs.
