Texas Galveston Bay Insurance

I am struggling to find affordable insurance for my 1977 Whitby 42. I am located in Galveston Bay and was insured with Lloyds of London but was told they are getting out of the boat insurance business. I think the last hurricane season is scaring off insurers. My broker has found an offer with Geico which is a 50% increase. I also looked at Boat US who is Geico as well and that was even higher. Does anyone have any recommendations for this area?

Foremost, owned by Farmers Insurance. They were half the cost of Boat US for a declared value policy. Only issue for us is 30 day limit of coverage in Bahamas. Friend lost his same-model cat in Harvey, and they paid in full and quickly. Then came back and settled up on some personal items he had on the boat.

If I may ask, who told you that Lloyds was getting out of the boat insurance business? Based on my very recent experience, I would question the validity of that report.

Liability or hull?

We’re using progressive for liability.
