Beneteau Transom Swim Ladder

Hello all!

I'm the new owner of a beautiful 1992 Beneteau 510. I've been scouring the internet to find a swim ladder for the transom of my boat that I purchased a little over a month ago. It really is an adventure, but it's what I expected as far as always finding something else that needs attention. I still feel lucky that it's in such good shape.

If anyone has any suggestions on where I can find a ladder that will fit, please let me know. I've included pics. The main problem is that everything that I'm finding manufactured today is much wider than the 10" between the mounting rails. I'd hate to remove them and then mount something else, but that may end up being the only thing that makes sense.

These guys will build you one:

White Water Marine - Ladders

I've bought stanchions from them. Reasonable, quick and nice work!

You can order the parts directly from Beneteau USA.

They have a database and info here:
BENETEAU USA

They have a lot of parts in stock.

Re: Beneteau Transom Swim Ladder

I had a quick look in BeneteauUSA's spare parts catalogue (along with a search), and the swim ladder doesn't appear to be original:

At least I couldn't find any reference to a swim ladder on the website under a 510.

Re: Beneteau Transom Swim Ladder

The OE ladder that goes there is kind of a pain in the ass and feet! It has a hinged lower part that folds over and fills in the gaps between rungs. This is so it can be flipped over and act as a gangway of sorts. Unfortunately that creates some weird shaped and awkwardly spaced steps. Attached is the only picture I have at the moment stolen from a video I took (phone with all my pictures fell overboard).

I've been trying to think off ways to get rid of it and replace it with a dive ladder that can fit in the pocket underneath the teak.

Since we've finally thawed a bit here, if I can get to the boat tomorrow, I'll try and take more pictures.

Edit- apparently can no longer add pictures over 400kb from the mobile forum app... I'll try another way

Here's the picture, plus a video showing it deployed. It wont help you source it though. The folding transom seems to be a rare version of the 510, so I doubt you'll be able to find it. Another option I considered was using a telescoping dive ladder and adding the removable bracket, but have not dug too deep into it yet as I have other projects.

Re: Beneteau Transom Swim Ladder

Thank you for the responses! It's really cool to see what the original ladder looked like. I'm still trying to figure out some options.

When I tried to sign up for the Beneteau parts website, I never got a response.

I messaged one of the vendors about having a ladder made and they responded that they needed the dimensions of the original part... hahaha!

I'll figure something out. The problem is that the rails that are still attached to the transom make it kind of tough to find something that will work. I'm sure the solution is out there.

When I can some how align free time with nice weather, I can try and take down some dimensions for you.

Off topic, do you happen to have the owners manual with a legible copy of the Perkins wiring diagram?

I'll be on the boat today and will look around to see if I can find that. I'm sure it will be handy to have.
