I am a US Citizen and student living in Santiago, Chile and currently studying Spanish. I am writing this post in hopes of finding a crew position with someone traveling from somewhere in South America to anywhere in the US, around the end of April. My Chilean student visa runs out April 28th, and I will be purchasing a plane ticket back to the US in the next few weeks if I can’t find someone that has definite plans for making a trip.
My skills and abilities as crew:
About a year and a half experience racing/sailing dinghies mostly in lakes in Iowa, but I have also participated in a few regattas in the Pacific off the coast of Chile in Algarrobo. Please understand I am not professional crew, but I am dedicated and very eager to learn more.
Professional Chef for more than 5 years. I am happy to cook for crew, and will pay for my share of meals for the trip.
EMT - I have been state certified as an EMT in both Iowa and Pennsylvania, but I have not worked professionally in this capacity. Hopefully you’ll never need someone like this.
Spanish - I am taking advanced level classes in Spanish right now. I’m not fluent, but I’m more than capable to hold conversation and get my way around.
Who am I as a person? I am a 27 year old male, close to graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish.I enjoy sailing honestly more than anything I’ve ever done in my life. You could say I’m a little obsessed. Sailing has not been easy to access in Chile, and I’ve really been missing it a lot. Besides sailing, I enjoy reading, writing, hiking, exploring nature, camping, etc. Lately I’ve been getting into learning how to Salsa dance. I’ve been known to enjoy a good beer or three, but not underway.
If I seem like I may be a good fit your schedule or crew, or if you know someone else who might have an opportunity available, please do not hesitate to reply or send me a message! I hope this isn’t too long winded, but I wanna make sure I find a good match for a longer trip like this.
