Re: Bavaria Yachtbau filed for bankruptcy
so much for cats are not seaworthy with horror rooms. Demand outstrips supply, unlike for monohulls.
Bet these investors realized above observing recent steep cats price rises.
After all, cats were responsible for early colonization of pacific islands.
Monos only get the place in history as they can take loots of weight, so i guess there will still be use for them, here and there, some crazy frenchman rolling in southern ocean or similar.

A bit reductive, monohulls helped populate lots of places the same way cats did the Pacific islands
But yes the market does seem to be going that way
I still see a need for a cheap n cheerful voyaging boat. But literally nobody is making that except for some of the European IF-boat makers and those are a sideline

Re: Bavaria Yachtbau filed for bankruptcy
The USA exclusive dealer, Bavaria Yachts USA, LLLP, filed for bankruptcy on October 16, 2016 in the Georgia Northern Bankruptcy Court. Having been in litigation and disputes with Bavaria Yachts for several years. In summary, the USA dealer was allegedly provided a 2% discount intended to cover the cost of customer service, repair of defects and warranty work to the USA customers but that the cost of repair of the manufacturers defects was far greater than the manufacturer's discount leading to losses to the dealer and the dealers bankruptcy.
Whereas the German boatbuilder Bavaria Yachts is having payment difficulties and is facing bankruptcy.
According to the German Press Agency, the boatbuilder filed for bankruptcy before the District Court Würzburg at the end of last week.

Can't really argue with that! But I am happy with my mono, place in history or not, and I'm not even French!

Woah!,,, a bit of simplistic extrapolation...
Beneteau, Jeanneau, Delher, and many other turn out a huge amount of monohull . And keep in mind, cats have a tendency to flip over, in blows, unlike monohulls and their jerky behavior in a seaway, is realy annoying. In my opinion. So I will keep my nice, strong and reliable GibSea... I love it!
Bavaria problems has nothing to do with multihull fad. Other problems may explain its demise.

Re: Bavaria Yachtbau filed for bankruptcy
If they are struggling, I wonder why the big name monohull builders don't diversify and build cats as well (assuming the lack of sales in part is due to increased cat sales). A name like Bavaria would give them instant credibility.
Is it because they worry their existing customers will not like it or some misplaced cat V's mono pride ?
Some people like cats, some like mono's. It would be a boring place if we all liked the same things.

[After all, cats were responsible for early colonization of pacific islands]
I can’t even get my cat to take a full watch! Last time he had the wheel he gagged up two hairballs in an hour, then went below.
