Re: Which penetrating fluid for which job ?

30yrs a automotive master tech. MARVEL MYSTERY OIL. It seems related to ATF but not. I also use it in Gas and Diesel fuel. Keeps everything clean internally.

LLOYDS 11014 MOOVIT PENETRATING LUBRICANT OIL 14oz

Item No. 14659
Forget about WD40, this is a real penetrating fluid. If you are working on any aged or rusted projects, soak it down with this lube and it will save you from stripping or breaking bolts, which will make your life easier.

Re: Which penetrating fluid for which job ?

Make your own. I've had best results with a 50/50 mix of automatic transmission fluid and acetone.

Like SCMB666 and others have said -Aero Kroil plus a flame wrench the next day will move most anything that will come apart.

The limitation usually is that you shear the bolt or that it turns in its mounting. Then you turn the flame to a fine point and cut the bolt off.

I usually have good success with corrosion X in a small eye dropper bottle.

Re: Which penetrating fluid for which job ?

I have also found that Kerosene works in some cases.

Automatic transmission fluid thinned with a little acetone or MEK might work--but mos t of these treatments have to be done multiple times over several hours to get any degree of penetration.

No doubt you have used all of the proprietary ones--the WD40 and 3in1 oil. Some people swear by eucalyptus oil--but not having tried it I can not say. It might be worth a try.
