Maybe you're being a bit hasty...? I mean, you just got injured; it hasn't even begun to heal, really; and you still don't know how much function will return once you be a good boy and do your physiotherapy...!

(This is meant to be encouraging not taunting.)
Fair winds,

What miserable luck - both shoulders? Must have been some fall. From the list of equipment, you were obviously totally committed to this venture - it's a damn shame you're unable to continue. While you have my condenses, the price of the boat is about what one would expect to pay here in the States, but without all the spares and upgrades - so a very good deal for someone. Hopefully you'll have a smooth selling process as you've had your share of bad luck here.

Re: 2003 Gemini 105mc Sailing Catamaran,

B; I am with LW77, infinitely lousy news....and same initial reaction, maybe take alittle time and see if you can rehab back to a place where you can still sail her? Obviously not knowing all that happened, but do know the time, energy, and desire in readying a boat. All the best. dave

Re: 2003 Gemini 105mc Sailing Catamaran,

Sir;

Please recall survival rule learned very painfully. Do not give up the ship while it still floats. Yes this vessel is very attractive but way out of my meager budget. Doctors have been proven wrong many times. Prayer, Physical Therapy, fortitude, and patience!!!!! Give it a year or so b4 you say no more.

Respectfully
Lem

Re: 2003 Gemini 105mc Sailing Catamaran,

Look at this fit guy in your own pic!

Despite the current bandages, pain pills and immobility, that guy is still in there.

Surely he can take a few months, let the shoulders heal, then tackle the rehab just like he tackled readying the boat for long-term cruising.

Listen to the ills this retired carpenter has... and he recently built his own pirate ship:

Re: 2003 Gemini 105mc Sailing Catamaran,

Sorry to hear you're giving up. I, too, would encourage you to do the physiotherapy--in any event! It is not fun, in my experience it was almost tearfully painful at times, but no matter whether or not you keep the boat, you still need your body just for daily living. I have had many 3month to 7 month rehab times of physical therapy (as we call it in the US), and while you cannot see weekly improvement, you usually can after 2 weeks, see a little for yourself. You CAN do it. Your job right now, is your healing. It is necessary to your health for the rest of your life. Giving up leads somewhere you really don't want to contemplate deeply. ....And, dollars to donuts, I bet Averil already told you this, too!

Ann

Re: 2003 Gemini 105mc Sailing Catamaran,

Oh, no! Mr. B! Please don't give up! What is your biggest concern at this point? Is it all about the physical and time spent in recuperation , or is it a combination of that and money spent on recuperation and boat storage? Perhaps if it's the latter we can rally around some sort of go fund me account? Just please let us know. I'd also not like to see you give up.

LOL it's the best of times to be selling a boat. So I understand. But I've witnessed your passion and I can not imagine this is what you'd really desire unless you were too despondent to make a considered decision otherwise.

We are here to support you in whatever decision. But please consider putting off the decision to sell until 6 months out.

Re: 2003 Gemini 105mc Sailing Catamaran,

I went to the Specialist yesterday.

All Bad news for a quick resolution,
But he is prepared to fit me in and operate as soon as possible, Thats good news,

Rotocuff surgery is required immediately on both my shoulders, and surgery on my left elbow is required also,
The right shoulder is hanging by a thread,
Pain is quite excruciating, Even the pills are not really making it,

They will only do one shoulder at a time, thats 3 months each in rehab,
Then the elbow, another 3 months,
In that time, I cant move my shoulders or elbow, They will be strapped up so I cant move, But they do deaden it mostly,
So a minimum of 12 months currently,

Money, I cant take it with me, So I would rather spend it on my health,
I will be around for along time yet, And I need to be fit and healthy for that,

I cannot recuperate on the boat as its moving all the time,

So it needs to be sold, Unfortunately, Thats the way the cookie crumbles,
Its a financial drain on my finances currently, So I will put the money in to my health and recuperation instead,

As Im 1000 miles away from where I live normally, I will have to rent a fully furnished house here till the operations are done,
Then I could possibly move back home, ????????

The hardest part of all this, is Mentally for me,
I was an Extremely Fit, Agile, Healthy and Highly Motivated individual,
And suddenly, Im basically a Cabbage that cant do anything for myself,
And Averil screaming in my ear, to not do any thing, She will do it for me,

I do have a 36 foot RV at home I imported from the USA a few years back,
1989 Foretravel Grandvilla, 300 HP turbo Cat Diesel, ORED,
My Land yacht,
We just need Averil to get a licence to drive it, (Heavy Vehicle licence), Its like driving a Luxury car, Except it is very BIG, Hahahahaha

Or she can drive it under my instruction, Big sign front and back,
Driver under Instruction, Hahahahaha

We have discussed it and Averil says we can rent a boat when we get up to the Kimberlys in it, Or take a few Tours, Etc Etc Etc, Even by Helicopter,

By road, The Kimberlys are still 4 or 5 thousand miles from Melbourne where I live,

So I wont be giving up the dream totally, I will get there, One way or the other.
I will have to get the boat sailed or driven back to Melbourne if it dont sell here,,
As its over twice the price to have it moored here in NSW compared to Victoria,,

Next week I will get MRI's on my shoulders and elbow, Prior to my surgery,

Thank you all for your compliments and offers of help.
It is much appreciated and lifts my spirits immensely,

Cheers Brian,

Sorry, Bri, but I must correct your misapprehension.

You still ARE an extremely fit, healthy and highly motivated individual. You have been seriously injured, yes, but since it is operable (fantastic!) and you can do (and will do) the physio, you absolutely need to stay in touch with and ultimately will leverage that "highly motivated guy" to get yourself back to fully functional.

Yes, for now, I'm sure you do feel like a cabbage. I totally get it. I was whinging to my physio about rehabbing my knee and that "who would ever guess that I used to be a high-level athlete". She told me she could tell... which brought me up short. Asked her what she meant. "You're approaching your physio like an athlete", which, when translated by her, meant that I actually *did* my physio, I was vehemently consistent about it without overdoing it, and I ignored the pain (as long as it wasn't the "you're-overdoing-and-reinjuring-pain").

Let Averil do some stuff for you. She probably would like to, for a change. Bet you did LOTS of stuff for her when you were uninjured.

Don't worry. In the scheme of things, what's a year or two? If you've lived 50 or 60 years, directing all your energies towards a full recovery for a couple of years will be time well-spent.

You won't be a cabbage for long!
LittleWing77

P.S. Thank the gods (and Averil) that you have Averil! Every day! Doing it alone is MUCH harder.
