Re: Broadbluen Rapier

Thank you very much for your response Sirfer. Very helpful. I am based in Boston, US but I would love to take on your offer sometime next year . It would be great to be able to sail the boat.

I am looking for a boat to sail for few years full time (liveaboar) for a couple and easy to sail singlehanded (not sure if my wife will be with me full time). Rapier 400 appears to have all the sail and navigation controls close together and cockpit is very protected. Any comments on these points? As an alternative I am considering Seawind 1160 which appears to be a similar boat in many respects.

I wonder what additional equipment were you able to squeeze on the boat. Is there a room for a small gentset? I would like to have watermaker if possible and this means genset most likely... The specification I got from manufacturer lists her displacement as 5000 kg. This is very light indeed and I wonder how sensitive is she to additional "stuff" being forced on her?

Anyway it is great to hear that you still enjoy the boat and there are no problems with her after 5? years.

Re: Broadbluen Rapier

Wow. Beautiful boat. I hadn't seen these before. What's the height in the cockpit/saloon? I'm 185cm tall. Would I have to be ducking while cooking? What about in the hulls? Ducking the whole time, or maybe just through the doorways?

Re: Broadbluen Rapier

Don't know height off hand. But I have a friend who is about 195cm. And he doesn't have to duck. Anywhere.

You may also want to look at the Maine Cat 38. Similar in many ways to the 400 and 1160.

Re: Broadbluen Rapier

Hello Sirfer
We are another format 400C owner! I can only echo what you say.

Ours was built in 2012 and sits in Croatia. She is an awesome boat, been across the Atlantic and back...twice. Sailed around Italy and into Croatia. Very safe and capable boat, been in some fiesty conditions and we were safe and comfortable.

She is a really pretty boat too! We totally refitted her in 2015 with all new sails, and a water maker, so we hardly ever have to come back to civilisation. Its amazing to be so self sufficient.

Very sadly for sale, so if anyone is looking, let me know.

Hi John
Yes, she goes on the market officially in May. She is out of the water in Croatia at the moment. Loads of extra features - like full solar, Spectra watermaker.

Got an awkward proposition from your broker.
Please email me via her. She has my email.
