Want To Buy: Simrad Chartplotter software update

Would anyone know of a shop or individual that could install newer software in a Simrad CX44 Chartplotter? I’d give it a go myself if I had access to the software and install program.

Any leads would be appreciated.

There would be no such "newer" software since the last update from Simrad. This model has been retired from active support for quite some time.

If you are hoping to magically gain the functionality of a newer chart plotter on your older hardware, it just ain't gonna happen.

Thanks SVHarmonie for your reply. I can see where ‘newer’ could be misleading.

I would like to update the CX44 from ver. 3.05 to ver. 4.30 so that it works with the DS44 slave unit. The software needs to match for the units to work together.

It would be ‘magical’ if someone still has the software for this ‘legacy’ but still functional unit.

Thanks for your interest in the Simrad chartplotters. After an extensive search, I was unable to locate a dealer or other source to update the CX44 chartplotter to a newer SW version.

I am resistant to purchasing new, only to find products no longer supported after several years. Newer isn’t always better.

As a solution, I exchanged the motherboard from a larger Simrad CX54 (with its newer SW) with the one in the CX44 which now works well with the DS44 slave unit in the cockpit.

For now, I’ll hold onto the (unused) CX54 should a possibility to update the SW come available.
