Catalina Morgan 440 engine access

It is time to replace my sea water pump impeller on my Catalina Morgan 440. There is a large single piece plastic liner beneath the floor boards that prevents access to just about anything on the port side of the engine. Can anyone give advice or examples of how you accomplished the impeller replacement? Has anyone had success finding a boatyard or technician to accomplish ready access?

Rip up the plastic liner if its not structural. You will be replacing that impeller at regular intervals, and possibly at an inconvenient time and place. Do you really want to rely on a $150/hr boatyard/technician to do this pretty simple job?

If that liner is not structural,its a perfect example of boat designers who are incompetent and have never actually had to any hands on maintenance. Just because some idiot designed the boat that way doesn't mean you have to put up with it.
