DIY boat yard in Hampton Roads (VA) with reasonable storage fees

I am depending on the results of survey looking to purchase a Tayana 37. It needs a good amount of work (osmotic damage, new barrier coat, electrical wiring work, deck work) so I will need at least three months on the hard. I am willing to entertain the fact that it could be double that. I am wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a good DIY yard in Hampton Roads. I have seen Cobb's recommended. I gave them a call and they quoted me $0.75 per foot per day. Anyone know something cheaper which is still DIY friendly?

Cape Charles across the bay is DIY friendly

Thanks for the suggestion. Cape Charles is nice but that is a bit of a ways to go. This won't be a liveaboard situation just me working on a boat after work and on weekends.

I would prefer the southside but if there is something cheaper Hampton or Newport News might work.

Here are a few places to try, some might be better than others depending where you are coming from....

- Virginia Boat & Yacht Services — located on the Western branch of the Elizabeth River in Portsmouth. I think they are still DIY.

- Chesapeake Yacht - Located in Chesapeake on the ICW at the Dismal Swamp cutoff near Interstate 64 high rise bridge. Long term storage no problem.

- Dandy Haven Marina- located in Hampton You get there from Back River.

Thanks Doug. I will give all three of them a call this weekend.

I understand that Cutty Sark Marina, across the creek from Cobbs, is still open, though the property has been sold. Might be worth calling them and see if they can help.....
