Re: Thinking of going CHARCOAL to GAS grill; how?

I prefer charcoal as well but if/when I get a boat it will have gas, I don't know which one.

That being said - if you're a charcoal user there's no reason to use lighter fluid. Buy a Weber...

Re: Sail the world for 50?

Coming from a non-sailor (hopefully we can move next year) and a YouTube fan - you need to focus on one specific area of sailing (i.e. your niche market) yet work in all aspects of sailing (bad...

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

I like the layout of the Allmands although I've heard their not great blue-water boats.

Re: Spectra Watermaker Feed Pump Vertical Lift?

Thinking outside the box here - what about putting a "pre-fill" tank in that open space then feed it with a sump over the rail and the spectra can suck from the tank - which would be at water level?...

Re: Birthday gift for a bluewater sailor

Have you considered a gift card? I know some people would rather buy and/or receive gifts so it's not always an option but I would much prefer a gift card.

Maybe a $150 gift card and a nice...

Re: Switch to full time power?

I've read quite a bit about boats on the great loop (as most here have, I'm sure) and it seems like sailboats are a pretty good alternative with masts down given the draft isn't too deep.

Re: Canada. Buy a boat in the name of my corporation

I think you'd be better off just paying yourself the money and buying a boat. Creating a company simply to buy a boat seems like too much work to me. Remember, it's not just year one, it's year...

Re: Why do people replace diesel engines in a sailboat?

But it's HIS reason, why judge him because he did something you didn't agree with?

Re: Getting into liveaboard w a family of 7

Check out Sailing Zatara. They have 5 people on their boat with apparent room to spare.

Here's a boat like theirs currently for sale. It's not...

Re: Youtube liveaboard stars?

I've definitely learned quite a bit from watching their videos and will probably continue to watch them sporadically and you're right, they'll lose some viewers but chances are they will pick up a...

Re: Rewire 12V How To

Blue Seas has a nice pdf of how to design a custom panel from them, I'm sure there are tons of little ideas you can gleam from reading that. If nothing else, you can see what types of breakers,...

Re: Youtube liveaboard stars?

Not sure, they listed their boat for just under $90K, not sure what it sold for. I'm less worried about the money and the new boat then I am about where they're going with their new boat.

As far...

Re: Youtube liveaboard stars?

I don't remember which video it was but essentially, they spent all of their money on their boat and sailed off with roughly $1500 in the bank knowing they spend about $1200-$1500 per month and that...

I wish they would've kept their old boat. They built it for high latitude sailing and now they're building a CAT? I was looking forward to watching some high latitude stuff but now that they're...

What size wire is behind that CB? Can it handle the 25 or was it designed for the 15?

Re: Youtube liveaboard stars?

We've been watching Delos since day 1, don't really watch SLV any more, get a kick out of Sailing GBU but have been watching a lot of Sailing Zatara lately.

I've come to the conclusion that if...

Re: Rewire 12V How To

If you're going to be doing any substantial wiring I would HIGHLY recommend a label maker like this as it's designed to print onto shrink wrap. I used to assemble motor control centers and control...

Re: RANT - New Refrigerator Temperature Range

I'm not sure about your particular fridge but I just picked up a fridge/freezer for my Jeep and there are settings that allow you fine tune the temp variation - i.e. I can set it for 37 and tell it...
