Re: Raw water to galley sink

I had a drain to a thru hull from my freezer which went under the sink. I just got rid of the drain function and used the thru hull to suck water to the saltwater foot pump at the sink. It works just...

I am wondering if I could get some help with information on zincs. Particularly with zincs hanging overboard which I have seen quite a bit at marinas. Are they a good idea given unknown hazards at a...

Re: Should I keep fridge on while away

I would be curious to get an informed opinion as to the subject of wear and tear on the fridge and freezer components when deciding whether to leave the units running or not. For example, are these...

Re: How stop these fittings from leaking

I had a Volvo with the same issues as well as leaking from around the thermostat housing. I tried all the stuff that has been suggested so far with poor results. I finally gooped each joint with some...

Re: Yanmar-Kanzaki clutch slipping

Great info Kenbo! I guess I would need to tell if I have the a or the p type gearbox. I strained the used oil from the gearbox through a pair of my dear old dad’s very white underwear and there were...

Re: Yanmar-Kanzaki clutch slipping

I changed the oil yesterday in the gear box and although it looked pretty clean on the dipstick it looked very dark in a glass jar. I will see how this works out but if not then out comes the kit and...

Re: Yanmar-Kanzaki clutch slipping

Okay guys, I believe you. No more sailing in reverse!

I will be changing the oil and see if that helps.

Also, where do you find the manual?

Thanks

Well, I just got back from my boat. The local mechanic came down for a look and said he would change the oil first before digging into the transmission and clutch. The boat is new to me, 2005 ...

Re: Yanmar-Kanzaki clutch slipping

The tranny has a cone clutch and I read that they are prone to glazing and subsequent slipping. No burnt smell in the oil. The transmission is a Kanzaki KM35.

Thanks for your interest.
