Re: 2-Stroke vs 4-Stroke Outboards
I have an old Tohatsu 2.5 two stroke. You can't by a new one in the US but there are plenty of parts available from multiple suppliers. You could even build yourself a whole motor if you wanted, but...

What DougR said sounds right. Only thing I would add is that if you are planing on keeping the engine for a while, you might consider replacing the pipes with stainless. It's more expensive but not...

Can't start the real anchor wars until January. It's in the bylaws or something.
This is just pre-game. :D

I've always hated the process of charging by the foot. If it's for an along-side tie up then it makes sense, you're paying for some length of real estate. But for a slip, it just creates a bit of...

Re: Two Cruising Anchors to complement each other.
What do you like about the Excel so much? Just curious. I looked it up and it looks very similar to a Delta, which is a decent anchor but I don't think most folks 'love' their Delta's.
What caused...

Re: Do you use a Daytime Black ball at Anchor?
I voted "once in a while" because there's not a "most of the time" choice, which is fine, and I don't do it "all of the time" since I sometimes forget.
I have a ball reflector that I typically...

Re: Bypassing leaky Perkins 4108 manual lift pump
I like this answer. The on-engine lift pump is good to have since it doesn't need an external power source. As others have said, if it's sucking air, it could also be leaking diesel in to the oil, so...
