Re: NAVICOLOR GT 41.68018.11

Hi. The most popular Pin seems to be 1884. This works for most boat pre 2020. I know they used different codes on later models. Hope this helps. I also have some trouble shooting tech data sheets....

Re: Bahamas Rules For Firearms On Board

Play it safe - donít take any. Stay away from Nassau and you wonít need any. Respect other countryís laws and cultures when visiting. And if you donít like that - donít go.

Re: Thoughts from experienced skippers please

I normally keep my boat on the Alabama coast also, but I am presently in the Bahamas. I have made that trip many times, and will be making the return trip soon. I typically go between Dog Island...

Geez - too many replies to wade through them all.......but yes, we pretty much met your description. No regrets - we maintain a home and cruise part-time. Currently en-route to the Bahamas. More...

Re: How Did You Decide?

Start with any boat specs that for you are constraints - for example, we are on the east coast and the ICW readily accessible. We like to go to the Bahamas, and we have a 50 ft side-tie dock. So...

Re: Your 2022 Cruising Plans/Philosophy?

Our 2021 plans were changed - largely due to a family illness (non-Covid), but in part by Covid. We had planned to take the boat to Europe in 2022, but with still some uncertainty with Covid and...

Re: Atlantic crossing from Mediterranean Spain

We did the trip in 2019 and thoroughly enjoyed it. We went all the way to Cape Verde. Several others that we met along the way went from the Canaries. We for sure had the better trip with more...

Re: Anchor Lights in a Mooring Field (USA)?

One simple question- why would you NOT want your boat to be seen? Yes, the regs outdated in this respect. With modern solar and photo diode technology, thereís no reason not to have an anchor light...

Re: Multi-hull cruising: where to start?

Performance, cruising, and catamaran don't fit in the same sentence - pick any 2 from 3. Since its totally weight driven - cruising and low weight don't go together. And if you are buying a boat to...

Re: Lagoon 40 - Reef Line Chafe

I don't use the lock on the block, but have secured it in a semi locked position with a heavy duty zip tie (which I keep an eye on and replace regularly). This allows a little twist but holds it in...

Philosophy on Sailing Videos?

I wanted to put out here my philosophy on Sailing Videos and see if I get any feedback. First a little background - I have always been a boater and later in life a sailor. I was inspired to take...

Re: Extending a Lagoon 40

We have a 2019 L40......Sails great. Not sure why you would ever consider this. Lagoon paid one of the best marine architects a lot of money to design this boat. But Bubba knows better???

Re: New Purchase Discount, does it exist?

I purchased a new Lagoon 40 in 2018. I did manage to negotiate a small discount, but I found other ways to mitigate the cost of purchasing a new Cat. Some of these were through research and...

Re: Code 0 type sails staying hoisted for days

We use ours on a continuous loop Facnor furler and drop it straight into a storage tub in one of coffin berths on our Lagoon. It takes 10 min to hoist or drop. So we drop it at the end of the day...

Re: How much cash to retire?

The answer is easy - you need all of what youíve got. And if you donít think youíve saved enough - donít retire, or lower your expectations to fit what you have.

Re: What is the most affordable new cruising cat??

Simon
You are on track. Cats are in demand and prices are high on used. I researched 2-4 year old cats, and bought new for similar to a 2 year old. Now, I saved on the delivery and some other big...

Re: What is the most affordable new cruising cat??

We went with a new Lagoon 40 and absolutely love it. The biggest saving we made was self-delivering the boat from France back to the USA. There are many potential ways to save taking this approach...
