Canada. Buy a boat in the name of my corporation

My advice is donít try something like this. I donít know Canadian tax law but in most European countries this would be begging for trouble. I actually read about a case about a guy that actually ran...

Re: Jon decides to go sailing

Hope you got stamina Jon. To me alone the building of the giant launching platform and the giant warehouse on the land seems like a little bit too large project to take on without money

Re: Ocean Yachts 45

It doesnít look like a Swedish built boat. And itís not a Sweden Yacht 45. Here is that model: https://www.swedenyachts.se/sweden-yachts-45/

But even though it might be a one-off it looks nice and...

Re: webbing mooring anchoring line, how the Swedes do it

Itís certainly useful. I have one and use it for stern anchoring. The price in the link (jimmy green) is very expensive though. You can but it on line from any chandlery in Sweden for app 130 euro

Re: Working a fulltime job aboard your boat whilst in the Carribean or Keys?

My experience is that it works fine if you work on contracts, quotes, following up emails etc but as soon as your tasks start to involve meetings and team interaction it gets difficult.

Re: Moving to Europe

And apart from all the above if you intend to stay in Sweden and not go sailing internationally (except maybe Denmark, Norway, Finland ) you will never be asked of any proof of VAT payment. Sweden...

To buy or charter?

I would certainly go for the option to own your boat. Then you could outfit it in the way you like and keep personal stuff on board etc. If you are planning on doing 8 month a year I think that would...

Amel 50 vs. Garcia 52 vs. Discovery 48

Good for you! I was close to buying an Amel 54 last winter but ended up buying a house on Gran Canaria (that I this far never visited due to the damn virus). I had more or less the same reasons you...

Re: LFP for boats staying mostly in the slip

I always try to have the batteries at 40-60% at the dock and never leave the shore power on. I then try to cycle them even if I have access to shore power. I mean the spec says they can do like 4000...

Is this boat worthy? keel and hull damage?

Walk Away! In Europe there are hundreds of similar boats in way better conditions than this for the same or lower price. No point in buying a wreck. Buying a 30-40 year old boat will mean projects...

Mercury or Tohatsu outboard motor?

The Tohatsu 9.8 two stroke has been banned to sell new in Europe for like 10 years. They are now selling used at a price over a new 9.8hp 4-stroke. I have a 8hp that I might try to do a carb upgrade...

Re: Soda Stream CO2

In Sweden you can do Exchange of the soda stream bottles for 8 euro in almost every grocery store. One bottle carbonise approximately 60 litres of water. Seem pretty hard to beat cost wise to me.

Honda Portable Generator: Will This Work?

I tried this on my boat. Built in a Honda 1kw in a sealed lazarette. Welded a pipe to the exhaust and led the exhaust to the side of the boat via a Webasto through hull. Two big engine blowers and...

Re: 123 Sm art BMS gen3 - voltage accuracy - opinions

I suspect I have the same problem. One of my cells is always 0,02 to 0,04ish below the others when looking at the bms app. But when measuring with my normally very accurate voltmeter I canít see any...

And on topic: No way I would substitute escape...
