Re: Looking for advice on French Polynesia charter

Hey Glock did you post any stories or pics from your trip to Croatia?

If/when the pandemic abates enough to travel I may look into FP as well.

Re: Can you have Comfort, Value and Performance in a Catamaran?

If this thread is still of interest to the OP, I think he should tell us more about the age of his kids and his level of experience. If he is a novice and the kids are young, he should really forget...

Re: Panicking on new boat purchase

Use the panic to help you. If the survey turns up problems, walk away. That is better than being so in love with the boat that you are biased, survey findings or not.

If no major problems, take...

Re: Business must be booming with certain brokers in the U.K.?

It seems to me that before I ever had a broker to sell my boat for me, I would put in a call to the broker as a buyer and ask about a boat he is listed for. If he made no reasonable effort to sell...

Re: Installing Soundown sound foam insulation

Is there room to build a U-shaped piece of support, such as 3 pieces of wood, and install (in 2 separate places) upside down so the middle of the U is against the foam on the ceiling? Just trying to...

Re: First Boat - Figuring it Out Yourself?

Get something like a Lifesaving Pro Premium 33G Auto/Manual Inflatable PFD Survival Buoyancy Life Jacket Vest for you and your wife or something cheaper if you will actually wear it.

Re: Standing rigging and weather helm on port tack.

Good job. Not a fool if you keep an open mind and eventually solve the problem.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Re: "Everyone is buying boats'"during the pandemic, and it's causing a short supply

It does seem that those fortunate enough to have money to spend are helping the less fortunate more by spending now than by sitting on their wealth, am I right? For instance, restaurants are closing...

Re: Bareboat in the Mediterranean

Go to Bisevo on that Navionics site. Look just north of a point labeled Hrid Totac. You will see several mooring buoy symbols. That is the place.

Re: Bareboat in the Mediterranean

That is the set up. There are a large number of mooring balls just around the point from the cave, there is a dock with a building in view of them. Every yacht grabs a ball, they are pretty close...

Re: Bareboat in the Mediterranean

Glocklt4,

I sent you a PM. As to where moorings are available, I used the Navionics chart viewer to get a rough idea of which bays had moorings. Many areas had rocky bottoms that were difficult...

Re: Heaving to- Fore reaching- Lying Ahull

I have a couple of questions about sails in hurricane force winds, including a question about furling jibs. The furling lines I have seen sure seem small and weak for the force that would be exerted...

Glocklt4,

We also went with the Angelina marina, in Trogir, although we chartered through Danielis yacht charter. I got the permit from the FCC as you did and played it safe. We had a great trip...

Re: Strange Bumps Just Below the Toe Rail

Hard to tell but to me it just looks like screws under the rub rail are backing out, bulging the the rub rail.

Re: Sludge in the fuel tank

I didn't notice anyone mention that with all this contamination, it would be wise to carry a small (5 gallon +/-) portable fuel tank, preferably with filter(s), to at least avoid getting stranded...

Where are you getting that the OP is a U.S. citizen? He said "As a Costa Rican resident, I can return"

Earlier he said that they "set sail for Costa Rica via Jamaica, where I reside."

If he...

Interesting responses. The fox and hound is something I had never heard of. And Yandina's invention sounds interesting, but I don't quite understand it.

Another idea could be for other owners of...
