Re: Lithium battery system problem. Help!

Looks to me like your JLD404 is either defective or not setup properly. If you don't have manual on it, you can find online.

Re: Global Positioning System Rollover weekó06 April 2019

Fired up my old handheld garmin 45xl for first time in years. Shows date as Aug 24 1999, it acquired position quickly (considering last time it was used) and position is correct.

Re: Latching relays for protecting LiFePO4 batteries

Gary,

Haven't used this particular relay. I've used a fair number of 'non marine' devices in dry areas of the boat with very few failures.

Re: Sealand Vacuflush Issues (Please Help)

I had a problem with vacuum leak where peddle shaft went through base. Sealand advised packing with silicone grease. This worked for a while, I solved the problem by turning a third o-ring groove in...

Re: Stevens 47

Hi James,

As far as I can remember the peel removed all the blisters, there was some poor bonding in the mat layer and they were able to manually peel off large sheets of mat. They ended up...

Re: Stevens 47

Hi James,

We have a 1986 Stevens 47. Our boat did have quite a few blisters. Probably could have repaired one at a time but I had the bottom peeled.

I have drilled into deck and core is airex,...

Re: LiFePO4 Batteries: Discussion Thread for Those Using Them as House Banks

It's a three stage charger, bulk and absorption are above resting voltage, so if it's not in float what is it in??? If you set float below resting voltage, for my chargers anyway, they are...

Re: LiFePO4 Batteries: Discussion Thread for Those Using Them as House Banks

I guess that would depend on how charger is built. All I know is that as soon as solar/alternator goes into float the pack starts discharging and charging source reports 0 amps charging. Might behave...

Re: LiFePO4 Batteries: Discussion Thread for Those Using Them as House Banks

If you are saying floating at <= resting voltage will damage pack that doesn't make any sense at all. If that we're true connecting cells in parallel would damage each other.

Re: LiFePO4 Batteries: Discussion Thread for Those Using Them as House Banks

I don't agree. I have a 800ah Winston pack that is 4 years old now. Resting voltage is about 13.3-13.4.

I have a blue sky solar controller set to float of 13.3. What that means is in morning it...

Re: Allcraft water heater parts ?

My allcraft element failed in Jan, I bought a "CHROMALOX 2E491 Water Heater Element TG-1153L 120V". I needed to bend it to fit into tank without hitting engine heat exchanger bundle, I did that...

Re: Convert Leece Neville Prestolite Alternator to External Regulator?

I did it to 8LHA alternators, wiring looks similar. You don't need a kit but you need to end up with one of the spade connectors with green green wires connected to ground and the other connected to...

Re: monitoring LiFePO4 lithium batteries

Sparrowhawk1,

I use the mini BMS, the one built for EV vehicle conversion. It didn't cost much (compared to the batteries). You require a signal (equivalent to ignition switch on vehicle) so board...

Re: LiFePO4 Batteries: Discussion Thread for Those Using Them as House Banks

Re 13.2 float voltage causing damage

13.2v is less than pack resting voltage, if that caused damage than cells connected in parallel would cause damage to each other even when no charging taking...

Re: LiFePO4 Batteries: Discussion Thread for Those Using Them as House Banks

Hi Steve,

I've been using 4x4x200a winston cells for 800a bank on my boat for three years now.

Have had no problems. I have not had to rebalance, I'm using 4 x 4s arrangement. I have a miniBMS...
