Re: 2 stroke or 4 stroke outboard

I must have misread late last night. That was for electric start. 44kg for manual short shaft.

Re: 2 stroke or 4 stroke outboard

I'm happy to see this technology trickling down.
I looked up the specs.
Yamaha Enduro, which is the beefy long lasting version of their 2T line weighs 38 kg (short shaft w/ prop).
Suzuki 15 EFI...

Re: 2 stroke or 4 stroke outboard

I see more Enduro 15’s than any other single type by at least 2:1. That has to mean something.
If you do a lot of low speed motoring then I would likely buy a four stroke. But I hate to buy any...

Re: Time It Takes To FULLY Charge Batteries

We now have 900 ah @ 12v FF and 1440wp solar.
I agree that the best time to run the Honda is in the morning.
Once or so per week, I turn the Victron 'master' controller float voltage to the...

Re: Adding Circulation Fan to Refrigerator Box

Definitely recommend Noctua fans. Spend a little more now and less to deal with in the future. I have a big 120mm fan blowing from the top down across one of the evaporator plates. I also...

Re: FireFly Battery Operational User Notes

At what voltage was it when it was only accepting 3.5 amps? If at 14.4v then you could manually reset SOC to 100%.
My shorepower charger goes to float way too soon for me to ever fill the...

Re: Replace Generator or switch to 100% solar/wind?

If it's the factory installed Xantrex combo shore power charger/2kw inverter, then the unit is modified sine wave. Unlikely to run an AC. If it does run I would expect a short life.

I'm...

Re: Replace Generator or switch to 100% solar/wind?

I have the same boat. Yanked the broken factory installed NL 6kw (water damage from trying to start too long with water lift exhaust, not me).
Installed 1440wp solar and 900ah FF oasis. Still need...

Re: Do-dads, gizmos, and things that make life aboard easier

-SensorPush brand Bluetooth Temp/Humidity sensors. Awesome app and calibratable. I have them all over, engine rooms, fridges, freezer, solar controller compartment, etc.

Re: Induction vs Gas Cooking

Just wanted to say this was a great thread and thanks those who participated. This reminded me to do a leak down test on my propane system. Keep up the good work team.

Re: Flexofold prop FELL OFF!!

A few weeks ago I noticed one of my bolts had started backing out and was bent. This was quite a surprise. I had ordered extra bolts when I placed my order so it wasn't a big deal, just had to...

Re: FireFly Battery Operational User Notes

I have 6 L15+ for 900 ah @ 12v, BMV-712 with temperature sensor and four 100/30 smartsolar controllers. VE Network for everything.

Re: Cruising with regular household fans?

We have mostly given up on the 12v fans from Carframo and definitely from Hella. One Hella died within 5 minutes of installation. Literally while I was cleaning up.

We use the Ridgid brand...

Re: Illustrated Guide to Solar Installations on Boats

You need two of them. Each one is good for about 400wp at 12v. If 24v house batteries you are good.

Re: Mini scuba tanks instead of escape hatches?

Mine doesn't have them and I'm thankful for that.
As mentioned only once above, I'm going to open the now underwater hatch and swim out that way.

Re: What cordless Vac to use aboard

Small 1 gallon wet/dry 120vac for the big jobs.
Ridgid (Home Depot / USA) brand takes same 18v batteries that all my power tools & hybrid 18vdc/120vac fans use. Too noisy.
Dyson V7 handheld. Use...

Re: New Victron MPPT Firmware

My #2 controller is master so far. I’m not changing my settings often so a small time savings is only good when you are tweaking. After finalizing I’ll make sure all four of mine are the same.

Re: New Victron MPPT Firmware

I would not do this. They specifically say to set them all the same. It only takes a moment to save the settings and download that to the other controllers.

There is no guarantee that the master...

This is great. Mine is showing the same. The normal display for one controller plus as you show the total of all. I’m very happy with the upgraded firmware.

I'm waiting on daylight to see this in operation. I hope it doesn't ONLY show the total. I like to check all four of mine to verify there isn't a shadow or a problem I don't know about.

It would...

Re: Heating water in silence (via inverter)

We should meet.

My boat came with an inverter/charger combo Xantrex RV2012GS for those that care.

It's rated at 94% peak efficiency which should be close with this type of load.
From the...

Re: The “Myth” of 100% by Midday

The unit you are looking for above is amp hours. 1 amp used (or created) for 1 hour is 1 amp hour.

Same for watts. Use 100 watts for 1 hour is 100 watt hours.

I suspect your problem is your...
