On a cat, the main is sheeted out from the end of a very wide traveller. It won't travel as far or slam as hard as a fully eased main on a monohull.

On any boat I am skippering, the lifelines are NEVER used for hanging fenders. :)

Correction: "SOME" cats.


Fiddles are less needed on cats. That said only a section at the front of my countertop is without a fiddle (and it has grab rail above the fiddle where there is one)...

This! Especially the last part. It takes a fair bit of stupidity to go overboard on a cataraman, even if not strapped on.
