We are now looking at a Yamaha 2000 watt (1600 watt continuos) and 16amp.
We will use a 110v adaptor for the 30 amp cord.
And we will look for a hard start kit.

You can really run a 5K BTU A/C unit on the 2000 watt gen ??
The reason I got our 3500 watt gen was to do just that (if it became necessary)

I looked at a Kiplor gen. and was impressed.
It was VERY quiet !!!
I found it at a pawn shop and it was there for months.
The day I went to get it, a guy walked in 15 min. earlier and bought it....

Oh - as far as keeping the unit "safe" we'll keep it strapped down on top of the Pilothouse, and covered with a small canvas tarp.

That's the best we can do.

But I need a min. of 2000 watts for a microwave that has a starting watt usage of 1500 and it's rated as a 700 watt unit.

The hyundi hy3000sei sounds great !!...

My understanding of an Inverter Generator is that there are three major components that are controlled by a circuit board.

If the boards start to corrode, at any part, it disables the gen. ...

I understand - and if we could afford the eu Honda, we would get one.
But the question still remains - even for a Honda, do inverter generators hold up in salt air conditions.

Relatively quiet, but it's been replaced twice and repaired 4 times all within a year.
