Re: Help! Which DSC radios are compatible with which plotters?
I sold the boat 3 years ago, but the radio was fine and it integrated well with the MFD. Sorry about your troubles.

Re: Help! Which DSC radios are compatible with which plotters?
What I meant was that I networked the Evo2 and the Link-8 with NMEA2000 only. Yes, they also support NMEA-0183. I did not have to resort to that.

Re: Help! Which DSC radios are compatible with which plotters?
My experience is with a previous generation Navico hardware (Simrad NSS Evo2 MFD and Lowrance LINK8 VHF). Everything works. AIS targets and DSC position polling requests show up on the MFD and you...

A future software update might address the N2K issues. The N2K port could become useful.

It is definitely worth the trip. There are several anchorages there. In fact, you can anchor anywhere within a 1 mile radius from Fort Jefferson. When we were there last March, most recreational...

How does this theory deal with the fact that multiple Navico MFDs plus dedicated control head can control the autopilot simultaneously?

Re: Navigational Aids are a Waste of Money !
Perhaps not updated charts, but a mainstream MFD integrated with an AIS receiver can display AIS ATONs. This capability has existed for a while now. The authorities can broadcast synthetic and...

Re: Does anyone actually use DSC?
All Navico brands do it. Also "buddy tracking", which sends position polling requests periodically and plots the other boat on your chart.

Open a checking account in the buyer's bank. Go to the bank together. Transfers are instant. Bank clerk can notarize the bill of sale. Done.

Re: Cruising a different way in Seattle sound??
I would not say regularly, but I did occasionally. I actually bought an Achilles dinghy, but it was not really practical. With a small boat like that you have to come up with a different strategy.

Re: Cruising a different way in Seattle sound??
I owned a 23 ft power boat in WA state for many years. Realize that you are getting advice here from owners of sail boats with deep keels. They may need a dinghy. You don't, with your Formula. You...

Install a keel guard on your boat and beach it instead of screwing around with a dinghy.

Re: Help with sourcing transducer for Simrad NSS8 FF Plotter
You are right. There are transducers that connect to NMEA 2000. They are very basic depth reporting devices. I was thinking the more common type that you can use in a fishfinder like the NSS8 to see...

Re: Help with sourcing transducer for Simrad NSS8 FF Plotter
Transducers don't connect to the NMEA 2000 network. I don't think it has enough bandwidth. Navico MFDs have a dedicated transducer connector. It is not compatible with non-Navico brands. The OP might...

The bulk of those taxes only apply to ordinary income, e.g. wages. If you are living off a nest egg, you have zero wages. You have savings and capital gains. If you are bugging out, you may not even...

Re: What was/is your bug out number?

2.. Why do you assume that all 185K is ordinary income? What if it's long term capital gains and your ordinary income is...
