Iím from Melbourne and Melbourne is a very large city. Let us know where the yacht is located and Iíll tell you what I know about being able to help and where it may be able to be moved to.

Re: The most popular dinghy size

Much better to plane ashore than bogging in at 3 knots with waves splashing up over the front. A planing dinghy goes so much faster and lets you explore up rivers and shallower waters without long...

Re: Anyone sail a Bene Excess cat?

Maybe take a look at the series of "Sailing Zatara" videos on Youtube. The boss Renee really doesn't enjoy their galley down and generally does not do cooking when underway. She prefers to make...

The most popular dinghy size

What do you think would be the all-time ever most popular tender size?

I was thinking maybe 2.5 or 2.7m...?

There's so many options now and I notice so many are coming out with aluminium hulls....

Re: Red light at night is a MYTH?!??!

Red light is used because it doesnít reflect off the windows, or certainly at least not anywhere near as much as other aircraft.

Itís used in aircraft for this reason and also we had red light in...

Re: Question re tenders - most common

Good point... there are a lot of mission profiles.

I spoke to a few people locally and we decided that in this area specifically, that a certain model would be more suitable.

Some...

Re: Question re tenders - most common

Why is that? Is there advice from the government to not do this? Do you realise that the majority of products you buy actually come from China?

Re: Question re tenders - most common

Are 4 d-shackles attached to the aluminium floor ok for most people to hoist up to davits? Rather than attaching to fabric.

Question re tenders - most common

I'm importing a large RIB from China and I have room for some small inflatables to help share the cost on shipping. Shipping to Melbourne, Australia.

If I was to purchase a couple to on-sell,...

Re: Epoxy and sand for fairing.

I wouldnít waste time with sand or powders. Powder sets too hard and is difficult to sand.

Q-Cells / microballons are specifically made for this job and are very easy to sand and form shapes. ...

I have negotiated with a very generous local business to have them install a couple of high quality of web-cams on Lord Howe Island.

They are available via a URL to my webcam website, however can...

Re: Camera surveilance - what price is fair?

Don't forget Brian, in Victoria they need a valid reason to pull you over and a "random" licence check isn't really a valid reason, unless they have been specifically tasked to do so. You can kick...

Re: Camera surveilance - what price is fair?

Canary appear to charge $10 a month for storage.

So you're up for $200? plus data ($150p/a in Aus) and that's for one camera only. It's up there in terms of price.

I'm looking at cheaper...

Re: DINGHY HORSEPOWER

Presumably you're referring to a solid bottom glass or alloy inflatable.

You need more than 10hp to plane a soft bottom with more than 2 people usually.

Re: Owner Financed Catamaran? - And some advice

For starters, I've never heard anyone quote their post tax income before, but hey, it's possible.

Set aside $100k in a year? Do you have two young kids and live in a big city or know what it...

Re: Valuing an older catamaran

I disagree with this.

When both boats are eventually renovated, you've got a 2010 model versus a 1990 model or whatever... I know which one I'd want and the reno's probably wouldn't cost much...

Re: is longer really more expensive?

Those in Australia that aren't environmentally conscious use round-up week killer in their anti-foul. Works well!
