Re: Watermaker Failure Due to Absent Weep Hole

I have seen this before. It is a seal failure on the pump head itself. Usually it takes a while for the seal to fail so catastrophically that the salt water backs up into the feed pump motor. There...

Re: Mystery Tool

It's not a post hole digger but a handle and grip for a crucible.

Re: no more deck water fill?

These systems are used all the time on large boats without compromising the deck fill. A proper set up should never pressurize your fresh water tank/s, as mentioned above, these tanks were not...

Re: Leopard Power Catamaran owners manuals wanted

If no one does, you might want to give "Just Catamarans" a call in Ft. Lauderdale. They work on more Leopards than anyone. Ask for Raphael or Laurant

Re: Basic book on electricity and applications

Second Nigel Claders books, any of them. He is a fine gentleman and friend. He pours his heart into these things. I was a commercial electrician in a past life and he has a way of explaining things...

Re: Continue refit or look for something else?

You don't NEED a boat to cross the Pacific either. But as long as you're going that route...

Re: What to Watch out for: Buying a boat from Moorings/SunSail

Just sittin back a grinnin. A week is nothing, you got away earlier than a lot of others. I deal with this all the time. I hear it all the time, a customer tells me their boat is on the hard and it...

Re: We have a winner!

My guess is that in somewhat short order a new potential MacGregor buyer upon leaving the Brooklyn bridge sales office, is going to hear this same pitch....

"Long story short is that an...

Re: Continue refit or look for something else?

I would think for 40k plus whatever you bought it for that there are a lot of 30 footers out there to look at.

Re: Watermaker in cold seas

As I eventually say to a few customers every now and then. It's your boat. You can do whatever you want with it. You don't have to pay any attention at all to my shaking head. If it works let me know...

Re: Watermaker in cold seas

But the math IS very important. Like I said, kicking around fun ideas is great, but by the time this Rube Goldberg device is built and working I think the electrical AND the funding of this projects...

Re: Watermaker in cold seas

The problem is several fold. First the most important part, raw water intake flow to even a smaller watermaker is fairly voluminous. You would have to have a very large tank to store enough water...

Re: Our first boat! Need someone that "knows a guy..."

BINGO!. Get the book first and read. Nigel has a really good way of making electrical on boats fairly easy to understand. The fact that this is a smaller boat means there is probably not much more...

Re: Watermaker in cold seas

Yeah pre-heating the water is a tricky thing because watermakers don't like hot water and if it gets too hot you can certainly damage the watermaker components. Plus depending on the size of the...

Re: Making Water in Harbor?

Actually it's the exact opposite. The older end caps had the two O-rings. The newer end caps have only one.

Re: Spectra watermaker
