Re: Yanmar 2GM problem

My game plan is to replace with the new elbow, clean the old one and save it for next time (hopefully, there wont be a next time), assuming I can adequately clean it so it is a worthwhile spare. It's...

Re: Yanmar 2GM problem

I pulled the exhaust and mixing U elbow, which was pretty carbon'd up. As soon as I get a replacement, install it and test run it, I'll share the results. Thanks again to all's help and advice!

Re: Yanmar 2GM problem

It will run up to 3200 in neutral. I have not checked valve lash or the exhaust manifold. I guess those are the next things to check.

I have a problem with the Yanmar 2GM in my Hunter 31. First a little background info: The engine has 1200 hrs, has just had an oil change, all filters (air, fuel) changed and Trans oil changed. The...

Porta Bote bottom paint

Does anyone have experience applying bottom paint to portabotes? What type of paint did you use? Did you need to prime first? Type primer? How long did the paint last and was it effective? Any help...

Re: Yanmar Tach help needed

Thanks Bill, "carrying on" is what I've been doing so far. it's not something that has to be fixed, but it just really bothers me when things don't work right. I just have to fix it!

Re: Yanmar Tach help needed

Probably the easiest next step would be for me to run new wires from the pickup to the tach (2 wires), eliminating any possible wiring issues. If that doesn't correct the problem, rather than...

Re: Yanmar Tach help needed

DrivinSteve, This problem came with the boat when I bought it 3 years ago. I can't honestly say if it ever worked properly or when it ceased doing so. You are absolutely correct about the type and...

Re: Yanmar Tach help needed

Kenbo, thanks for your help, but, firstly, there is no lock nut on the pickup. It is screwed all the way in. There is no evidence looking at it that it is making any contact with the flywheel teeth....

Re: Yanmar Tach help needed

You are correct about the tooth count being 97 on this model, but there is no adjustment on the back of the tach that I've found and nothing in the manual about adjustments to it. The mag pickup was...

Re: Yanmar Tach help needed

No, there are no adjustments on the tach. It is model specific. Probably why it is so expensive to replace.

Raymarine EV 100 wheelpilot review

Re: Tac tick wind

The Raymarine T 120 is an exact replacement. They are kinda pricey. If you have the old one, Raymarine will rebuild it for 1/2 the price of a new one.
